LAURENCE LE CONSTANT
SOPHIA
Sophia embodies wisdom. Her name, derived from ancient Greek, refers to a form of knowledge that extends beyond the intellect, a deep understanding of the living world and its invisible laws.
Laurence Le Constant portrays her as a doe, a mythological figure associated with gentleness, intuition and vulnerability. Her coat has given way to a plumage of waterfowl feathers, as though she carried within herself the qualities of several species united in a single being.
Resting peacefully before the viewer, Sophia neither flees nor seeks to impress. She welcomes the encounter with quiet presence, inviting us to slow down and rediscover a more sensitive way of perceiving the world.
Her hooves, carved from clear and smoky rock crystal, extend this intimate connection with the living world. Rooted in the earth while reaching toward the most subtle dimensions of existence, Sophia invites us to rediscover a way of perceiving the world in which intuition becomes a form of knowledge.
