LAURENCE LE CONSTANT
RIMBAUD
Les Oiseaux du Paradis, 2025
Rimbaud is one of the seven unique wearable artworks that compose Les Oiseaux du Paradis, the inaugural collection of Maison Laurence Le Constant.
Conceived and designed by Laurence Le Constant, the sneaker was developed from her original drawings before being transformed through hand embroidery, featherwork and the integration of black onyx and resin elements.
The sculptural arrangement of onyx and resin creates a volume reminiscent of the boxfish, a fascinating creature known for its singular silhouette and protective structure. Across the shoe, featherwork unfolds like currents and waves, transforming the surface into a fluid landscape suspended between sea and sky.
At the heel, delicate wings emerge as a subtle reference to the winged sandals of Hermes, messenger of the gods and symbol of movement, passage and transformation. These elements introduce a mythological dimension that extends the work beyond ornament into poetic narrative.
Traditionally associated with protection and inner stability, black onyx has long been regarded as a stone that calms the mind and strengthens emotional resilience. Its deep black surface, like a mirror of the night, absorbs agitation and encourages serenity.
Combined with featherwork, onyx becomes the symbolic heart of a creation exploring protection, metamorphosis and the invisible forces that guide inner journeys.
Situated between sculpture, adornment and poetic narrative, Rimbaud reflects Laurence Le Constant's ongoing exploration of beauty as a vehicle for imagination, symbolism and transformation.
Onyx & Symbolism
The deep black of onyx evokes stillness, protection and inner strength.
Traditionally associated with grounding and emotional balance, it is regarded as a stone that helps calm fear, reduce anxiety and encourage clarity of mind.
Like a mirror reflecting the depths of the night, onyx invites introspection and serenity.
Within Rimbaud, it becomes a symbol of protection and transformation, supporting a dialogue between mythology, the marine world and the imagination.
