LAURENCE LE CONSTANT
DAPHNE GUINNESS × MASSARO
Paris, 2015
Maison Massaro invited Laurence Le Constant to create featherwork interventions for two sculptural shoe designs created for Daphne Guinness.
In 2015, Maison Massaro gave Laurence Le Constant carte blanche to create a featherwork piece for two shoe designs developed for Daphne Guinness.
She conceived the shoe as an organism in transformation. Duck and pheasant feathers emerge from its surface as signs of an ongoing metamorphosis, while the sculpted horn-shaped sole alters the body's balance and induces a distinctive forward-leaning gait.
Evoking creatures drawn from fairy tales and mythologies, these pieces blur the boundaries between the human, the animal and the fantastical. By wearing them, Daphne Guinness herself becomes a hybrid figure whose silhouette is transformed.
The shoe ceases to function merely as an accessory and becomes an instrument capable of transforming posture, movement and the perception of the body.
