LAURENCE LE CONSTANT
CALLISTO
Inspired by Ovid's myth, Callisto embodies transformation, exile and resilience. A nymph transformed into a bear before being raised to the stars as a constellation, she endures her trials without ever losing her inner light.
Laurence Le Constant reinterprets this ancient figure through a presence that is both powerful and vulnerable. Rather than illustrating the myth itself, she creates a bear whose expression remains deliberately ambiguous, inviting each viewer to project their own emotions and interpretations.
Covered in recycled feathers, her body evokes a quiet metamorphosis in which the boundaries between species gradually dissolve. Glass and leather extend this dialogue between strength and fragility, earthly grounding and spiritual elevation.
Like the constellation that bears her name, Callisto reminds us that our deepest wounds can become points of guidance, and that the most profound transformations may ultimately lead us toward another light.
