LAURENCE LE CONSTANT

A CALL TO HEAVEN
Inspired by L’Homme Superlumineux by Régis and Brigitte Duteil, A Call to Heaven affirms that human beings are not limited to their material existence. The exhibition is rooted in a vision of life as an initiatory journey whose purpose is to lead us toward a deeper understanding of our true nature.
Each work acts as a marker along this path. Guardian figures, animals, skulls, eggs and feathered landscapes signify the different stages of a journey in which the experience of the visible world becomes a means of accessing a broader reality. Matter is not an end in itself; it is the vehicle of an inner transformation.
Informed by alchemical thought and the writings of Carl Gustav Jung, the exhibition evokes the process through which the individual gradually remembers what they already are. Conceived as a journey of revelation, A Call to Heaven invites visitors to recognize within their earthly experience the signs of a return to themselves, to that essential dimension that some call Being and others the Self.
ALBEDO
Inspired by the alchemical Albedo, or “Work in White,” Albedo evokes the stage of transmutation in which the soul becomes aware of its luminous nature. This phase marks the completion of the Lesser Work: the passage from a predominantly material reality toward a state of spiritualization.
Composed of four skulls unfolding in a continuous movement, the sculpture reinterprets the form of the skull itself, a symbol of both the human condition and transformation. Enveloped in a dense mantle of feathers, it suggests a metamorphosis in progress, as if matter itself were animated by a vital force.
Through its ascending movement and organic presence, Albedo embodies this threshold moment in which the individual gains access to an expanded awareness of the self.

JACINTHE
Jacinthe belongs to the My Lovely Bones series, a body of sculptural portraits in which the skull ceases to be a symbol of mortality and becomes the vessel of a singular presence.
Covered with hand-dyed goose feathers, the sculpture unfolds as a vibrant material landscape whose movements evoke organic growth, thought and memory. The feathers do not conceal the underlying structure; they breathe new life into it, transforming a remnant into an apparition.
Presented in A Call to Heave
n, Jacinthe embodies a stage of the journey in which the individual gradually reveals itself, moving through inner transformation, self-discovery and expanded awareness.

ECHO
Created from casts of anatomical cranial vaults, Echo unfolds as an organic form that evokes an egg, a lemniscate and a reclining hourglass. These figures converge toward a single idea: suspended time, a continuous movement in which beginning and end become one. A symbol of infinity and unconditional love, the lemniscate enters into dialogue with the shape of the hourglass, suggesting a temporality that escapes measurement and approaches eternity.
The movement of the feathers expresses the intensity of the dialogue between the inner self and the source of all creation. The material appears animated by an invisible breath, like the echo of a presence moving between the inner world and that which lies beyond it.
The question of symmetry and chirality occupies a central place in this work. For Laurence Le Constant, they express one of the fundamental principles of life: an organic and approximate symmetry in which forms respond to one another without ever repeating themselves identically. It is within these subtle variations, inherent to all natural growth, that expression, movement and the uniqueness of each work emerge.

ANOUKIS
A protective figure and guardian of thresholds, Anoukis is inspired by the Egyptian water goddess whose name she bears. She watches over invisible territories and accompanies those who embark on a journey of inner transformation.
Covered in feathers of deep and nuanced tones, the she-wolf appears as a mediator between worlds, attentive both to the movements of the heart and to the signs of the living world. In A Call to Heaven, she marks one of the stages of the initiatory journey proposed by the exhibition: the moment when intuition becomes a guide and trust allows us to move toward a deeper understanding of ourselves.
First presented in 2019, Anoukis has since joined an important private collection in the United States.

THEMIS
Inspired by the Flores Man, Themis embodies a figure that stands at the threshold between human and animal. Her body is traversed by the forces of life, allowing her to acquire the qualities and powers of the beings that surround her.
Bearing the name of the Greek goddess of law and order, Themis is nevertheless far from a fixed figure of authority. Instead, she appears in a state of transformation, attentive to the invisible languages of the natural world. The feathers covering her body evoke this ongoing metamorphosis and express the ancestral desire to transcend the limits of the human condition.
In A Call to Heaven, Themis marks one of the stages of the initiatory journey proposed by the exhibition: the moment when knowledge is understood to arise not only through reason, but also through intuition, observation of the living world, and inner experience.
