LAURENCE LE CONSTANT
MY LOVELY BONES
2010–Present
Initiated in 2010, My Lovely Bones is Laurence Le Constant's seminal body of work and the foundation of her artistic language.
Developed over more than fifteen years, My Lovely Bones has evolved into an expanding body of work exploring memory, transformation, identity and the persistence of the invisible. Through a singular sculptural practice, Laurence Le Constant brings forth presences situated at the intersection of poetic narrative, mythology and metamorphosis.
Each work emerges from a dialogue between personal mythology and universal archetypes. Tribal tales, cosmogonic myths and ancestral beliefs intersect with questions of consciousness, transmission and transcendence. Together, they define a territory where the visible and the invisible coexist in a shared creative tension.
With My Lovely Bones, the artist assumes the role of the Huesera, the “Bone Woman” of Mexican folklore. Like La Loba, the mythical figure who gathers scattered bones in the desert before restoring them to life through song, Laurence Le Constant assembles fragments of memory, symbols and forms to bring forth new presences.
These vanities are not memento mori. Rather, they celebrate metamorphosis, resilience and the enduring force of life. Each skull becomes a portrait, an apparition, the manifestation of a reimagined memory and a profound reconnection with life itself.
Since 2010, My Lovely Bones has unfolded as an evolving cosmology, reflecting Laurence Le Constant’s ongoing exploration of beauty as a path toward transformation, transmission and transcendence.
